Barcelona is Spain’s second most populated city with a population of 1.6 million. It is the capital city of Catalonia. Barcelona is the largest metropolis on the Mediterranean Sea. It was founded as a Roman city and in the Middle Ages was an important city in the Crown of Aragon. Today it is an important cultural center and a major tourist destination.
We loved touring the city. It’s Modernist architectural influence is renowned. Three buildings by Antoni Gaudi are World Heritage Sites. Additionally there are several Gothic Basilica’s, and a Romanesque church (St. Pau del Camp).
We had a great time traipsing about Barcelona. The city is very clean. The taxi drivers are exceptionally good and we were well taken care of as we traveled the city. Our meal at the Crazy Crab with friends was excellent. The meal at the 4 Gats while historic was only mediocre. WE PLAN TO GO BACK ONE DAY AND SPEND A FEW MORE DAYS SIGHT SEEING. BEAUTIFUL CITY!
